About Me

Well, if you're reading this, then I guess you want to know more about the person behind the SuperBanjo screen name. Let's start at the beginning. My real name is Chris and I'm 15. I've been playing video games for a very long, long time.
My comic making career started back in 2004. I was cruising around on the N-Sider forums one day and I stumbled across a thread by TheBlackDevil16. He had created a bunch of really cool comics and I was extremely amazed by them. I asked him where he got the sprites from and he gave me a link the the Sprites Resource.
I really wanted to know what program he used, so I asked him if he made his comics with comics with Microsoft Paint. He replied by saying, and I quote
"heck no that program is horrible in my opinion i use one of the best! I use MGI Photosuite, it has all the tools that Photoshop has but its sooooo easy to use!"
Well, not that I'm trying to insult him or anything, but I think it's safe to say that I had Link personally make sure that that myth was ripped apart, stomped on, tied to a powder keg and blown away with Diety Shwartzenegger on 24 separate occasions.
So, anyways, even though TBD didn't believe I could make comics with MS Paint, I thought otherwise. After a lot of messing around with all of the functions in MS Paint, I figured out how to make the first SuperBanjo style comic.
If you want to see my original thread, I'll provide a link to it below. I made this way back when the Zelda General Discussion board still existed. Even though it's long been locked, it's still a neat window into the past. Click Here if you want to travel back in time to visit my comic career origins and see where it all started. It's kind of interesting to see how people responded to it way back when comics were pretty new to the N-Sider forums.
Not long after that, the old Zelda Boards were locked and shut down to make room for the new ones. It was here that I would learn new things and have to deal with new challenges.
Around that time, I came across Link703's Zelda Animations. I thought that they were really awesome, so I asked him what program he used (Jasc Animation Shop 3) and decided to download a trial version of it. It didn't take me long to make my first animation, and once again, I made it with the help of good old Microsoft Paint.
(Check out my Animations page if you want to see what kind of animations I've created so far.)
So, after some fiddling around, I made my very first animation. I posted it on my second comic thread, and some mentally impaired Link703 fan-boys started accusing me of copying his work. Instead of being mature about it, they went behind my back and tried to ruin my reputation and get a bunch of people to hate me. In fact, one nutcase even said, and once again I quote:
"Look at the evils of SuperBanjo!!! click here to go see his evil works!!!"
So suddenly, a bunch of people came and flamed my thread, and I was really clueless as to what their intensions were. Fortunately, I had made some good friends (Thanks SpongeBob1992), and they told me where it had started and what it was all about. So, I went over to Link703 and we clarified that my animations were not copies of his as long as I made animations with plots that were different from his.
My old fans probably remember that, and that's why I had to add a bunch of rules to my third comic thread so that it wouldn't also be deleted. So, like I said, that lead me to the creation of my Third Comic Thread, which you can view by Clicking Here.
So, that was my biggest thread. It sure hold a lot of memories, not to mention a lot of my posts too. Heh heh. After that, I made my ever famous Goron Dancing animation, which inspired me to make my Goron Dancing sig. I made a few more animations, but in the time it took to make a 20 second animation, I could create about 3 or 4 comics, so I wasn't very inclined to make many more animations. And also, my 30 day trial version expired around that time, so from there on out it was back to comics.
I finished up my first series, and ended with a total of 24 comics. I'm pleased to know that they served their purpose by entertaining the many Nintendo fans on the forums.
So, time went on, summer came to an end, and I began my first year of high school. I no longer had the endless free time that summer provided, so my comic making was put on a pause. When Christmas break finally rolled around, I once again found myself alone with the computer and a bunch of spare time. Yup, you know what that meant. I started my second series. The Quest for the Nintendo DS.
As many of you know, Christmas break is a lot shorter than summer, so it went by really fast, and my comic time was sadly swallowed up by the daily stresses that high school provides. Unfortunately, my comics kind of died after that, but during those long months of school and no comics, I developed another interesting skill... Movie Making.
It all started when I saw Mawingu21's extremely well done edit of the first Zelda Trailer. (Click Here to see it.) I have to admit, I was really impressed with his work, and I was also determined to match it. I tracked down his AIM screen name and had a chat with him one night. He told me what program he used and wished me good luck on my movie editing. He struck me as a very respectful and honest person. He offered me a few tips, and then I was on my own.
A few weeks later, after some extremely long hours with Windows Movie Maker, I came up with my first movie, called" The Legend is Coming." (Click here to see it, it's on that list)
Yes, I know it was really crappy, but just like my comics, my movies also got better over time. Time went on, and as more of the new Zelda footage was released, my movie editing quality increased. In the end, I came up with 2 wonderful works of art. "The Legend Reforged" and "A Hylian Legend" Both of which can be found at my Movies Page.
Well, after that nothing really happened. I finished up high school and when summer started I knew that I had to start my comic series back up again. I spent a week making a new animated signature, and let me tell you, I put a lot of hours into it. In fact, that may be the last animation I ever make. But anyways, it turned out really nicely. In fact, not to brag or anything, but I think it's one of the best animated sigs on the N-Sider forums right now.
So, after I finished that sig, I got to work on my site, and once I had everything the way I wanted it to be, it was time to boot up ol' Microsoft Paint again and put my comic making skills to the test. I didn't know whether or not I still had that special touch all of my other comics had, but your the one who will make that decision.
Wow, if you've made it this far, then you must be a really dedicated fan of mine. Just know that I really appreciate your taking the time to read all of this.
All the times I've spent making comics and chatting on the N-Sider forums have become an important part of my memories, and had opened up my mind to help me think more creatively. I'll end this page by giving one of my favorite quotes.
"It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination."
