WHOSE AIM IS to raise AWARENESS by various means.
PROTO-MU WILL paint, sculpt, video, install,
assemble, & perform.
THEN we will see WHAT art is AND WHY.
THIS multi-valent, TOTAL ART NETWORK functions globally.
WE WILL remain flexible TO ACCOMMODATE
ANY NEW ARTISTS WHO WISH TO JOIN OUR GROUP
proto-mu is an art group. A movement.
A line of flight. A process.
ALL previous art groups have had a beginning, a middle, and an end.
They are like stories. FICTIONS. Their death was already
written at their birth. The artworld has killed them.
The artworld insisted they give their ideas form,
BUT, form is death.
They make the market place THEIR SOCIETY, the form of their work
IS THEIR BODY,
and their ideals are THEIR SOUL. they have
already begun to DIE.
proto-mu know that everything can be art.
We are art. Art is process. Art is what makes people live.
Art is the way things happen. How can you call this or that object art?
It is simply the detritus after art has passed through.
proto-mu cannot die. We live in the spaces
between objects and events. We surf on ideas.
Mu means, literally, "No thing" or "No"
and is not a negation
but a teetering on the brink of becoming.
proto-mu exist at the brink of mu.
Because we are in a state just before mu we will never quite become.
We are constantly coming, but never arrive. We are the passage throughthings.

Proto-mu say that the physical, mental & spiritual are all aspectsof a complete art system which is only real when it is seen to be here and now.
PHYSICAL
The physical is any device, organ, or mechanism that allows us to pluginto the art machine.
The physical art object which may appear in the gallery should not beconsidered to be art.
Art is the name given to the process which may or may not produce artobjects, which are clots in the flow of art.
MENTAL
Since the process of art is essentially a flow in the spaces betweenobjects and interactions, we will foster a flexible mental attitude designed aroundintuition rather than rigid logic.
Proto-mu will always endeavour to be mindful, but we are allowed to makemistakes. They are good. They are evolution. Pay attention.
SPIRITUAL
Proto-mu are a total art network who will not deny the spiritual in art.Our spiritual aims are to learn about ourselves and how we connect with each other and theart machine. We will also look at what things mean.
