Yardley2-3 Fisher 25/02/06

The pressure is starting to build at the top of division three as fisher look to end there first season as champions, the run in is a tricky one to say the least and as where only one point clear and none of our rivals capable enough of beating the inform corner flag, there can be no more slip ups with only seven games remaining. This tie was potentially a banana skin with the hosts Yardley picking up some decent results of late, the 5-1 demolition of Dansholme a stand out and with blustery g-force winds sweeping across the pitch, it was always going to be difficult for us. Adie made a few changes to the line up with the return of old bash replacing the in-consistent dockland, Tom came in for the injured Scrivs and Jack replaced Razor. The lined up with Milne, Tom, Scott Mc, Young Bash, Steve, Scott D, Oags, Old Bash, Cam, Gibby and Jack. I am not sure if we one the toss of the coin but we where playing into the wind first and Yardley tried to use it to there advantage and it paid off when we where caught slacking at the back  and had to force the ball out for a corner, the corner taker couldn’t beat the first man and the ball was cleared back to the same spot and this time the player got his foot right round the ball and lifted into the air and there was only one place it was going when the wind picked it up and it dropped in behind Milne at the back post to make it 1-0 to Yardley, the player certainly didn’t mean it but to be fair Yardley deserved there lead. Our first real chance came when Steve fizzed in a delightful cross from the right wing as Gibby agonisingly put the ball wide, that gave us a lift and  we soon managed to get going and we equalised with in 15 minutes, the ball was played out from the back to Oags just past the halfway line, with not a Yardley midfielder in site Oags ran at the centre half’s with me and Gibby either side of him offering an option, since Gibby is a slightly better finisher than me he opted to play him in and it paid dividends as Gibby coolly slotted in of the post and made it 1-1. Yardley piled pressure back on again and again won a corner this time the corner bobbled about in front of Milne and he was beating to it by a Yardley shirt who made it 2-1.……….H/T

We came out  for the second half slightly pleased we only conceded 2 goals in the madness of the wind filled first half that effected our play and knowing Yardley’s defence had to go under the spotlight we where always confident of getting the result. Scott d played a lovely ball in behind for Gibby to chase but the lines man( like so many opposing lines man) must of been blind or had cramp in his arm as his flag flew up even though there where no less than three defenders playing him on side, ah well our chance will come and soon enough it did, young bas regained possession in his own half and managed to pick me out down the left, I managed to beat the first man and then was chopped down by the second man just out side the area and a free kick was rightly awarded, Gibby curled in a beautiful ball for Scott D to rise up and guide it in the bottom corner and make it 2-2 and you could sense Yardley heads where going down. Fisher began to turn the screw and this time jack went clear only to be harshly ruled off side which prompted the usually cool as cucumber Davie Norman to rip the last bit of hair out of his head and tear into the ref  who in turn tried to send him off to no avail. Then in mist of all the madness with 5 minutes left Fisher took the lead, again Gibb’s intelligent running and Oags clever passing combined as Gibby found him self in front of goal and dispatched another effort some what more convincing than his first goal to make it 3-2 to fisher. Substitute Dockland was judged to have dived in the box with a minute remaining although he went down easily it was clearly a penalty but it was never giving but who cares with Yardley not turning up for the second half the result was inevitable in the end as the better team run out easy winners in the end up. Weavers should provide sterner opposition next week and nought less than a win will do. Now it was the long drive home for sausage and chips at the beloved fisher before setting off tae storm for a wee knap, speaking of which cant a guy fall a sleep in public with out being hoisted out what’s the world coming to now days fer feck sakes .
