Islip (A) Match Report and pics King fisher( still cant get it in my head that we are not locos anymore) started off with a more than impressive win against a toothless Islip team in our first match, under the watchful eye of new owner Milne Abramaovich who would off been more than happy with the money hes spent on renewing the contracts of several players. Adie has been excited with the prospects for this season and with the first of the new kits arriving, which special thanks to everyone involved at the kingfisher especially Milne for being generous enough to supply much needed financial backing, the future for this club looks bright. The board of directors will be more than happy with this start, the team played excellent I must say. Danny bhoy and slipper didnt return for pre-season and are surely going to be released on to free transfers with Adie losing patience with the pair of them. New signing Jaffs was unavailable after injuring his knee in training but should be ok for the start of the season. Alan Rooney started in goals behind a solid back three of Eddie, young Bash and Scrivs. Cam the bam occupied the left wing back role with Steve on the opposite flank, there was a pretty impressive middle three of Scott Davanagh, Old Bash and the rascal dockland. Huffy Gibby started up front with Jack the lad. Kingfisher got off to a flyer when Scotty d connected brilliantly with a corner inside 10mins to make it 1-0. Islip replied almost instantly when Scrivs lost his concentration in the sweltering heat and committed a needles foul just out side the box, the ball flew into the net and to be fair it was a peach of a goal. Oakes replaced Docks in the first of the changes and almost instantly he made an impact when he broke free and rounded the keeper only to be brought down and a penalty was rightly awarded, Oakes stepped up and made no mistake in sending the keeper the wrong way completely to give fisher the lead again 2-1. Then the move of the match Barcelona would have been proud of, The impressive Oakes played about four 1-2s with scotty and Andy corner(who came on for Steve) before releasing Andy c down the right and he sent in an excellent whipped cross to the front post where gibby got a defence splitting little flick on for me, cam the bam to lose his marker across the face of the goal and send a neat header into the roof of the net to make it 3-1. Eddie then sent a header from a corner crashing against the cross bar as fisher began to run riot but Islip where saved by the whistle for half time 3-1. Fisher came out in the second half with more of the same attitude when docks found his fitness coming back on for bash and chased Islips best player 40 yards up the pitch and made one of the best tackles Ive ever seen and came out with the ball at his feet. The excellent jack the lad who looks to be every defenders worst nightmare with his constant harassment and neat skills (Gibby is just our nightmare) applied a lovely finish to make it 4-1 to fisher. Gibby played well enough but couldnt convert the chances he had, when he could have made it 5 but shot straight at the keeper am sure he will discover his ruthless streak again in good time. Then the most shocking piece of lines man play I have ever seen when everyone saw the ball go over the line for a goal kick apart from stich, and the Islip player crossed the ball back into play and allow the striker to sneak in and score when the defence was caught not playing to the whistle. Jack the lad hid stitches blushes from the re-start when he forced his way trough on goal and hit an unstoppable shot, which in my opinion capped off a man of the match performance from him to make it 5-2. Player ratings ROONEY ..7 Rarely troubled, but excellent on corners when called upon. SCRIVS .8 Excellent game from the big man, dealt with everything. YOUNG BASH 8 Does he ever have a bad game, reads the game like a bloody good book. EDDIE ..7 Struggled with fitness at first before giving his usual towering performance unlucky not to score STEVE ..7 Got stuck in and tried to get up the right as often as he could. SCOTT 7 Brilliant header for the first goal, dictated a lot of the play. OLD BASH 7 Another mature performance from the Wiseman DOCKLAND ..7 A cracking tackle in second half and is a constant threat with his excellent flared play. CAM 6 Fine header to finish of a great move but struggled for fitness probably to do with a hangover. GIBBY ..6 Lets his head go down to easily, but had a fair game JACK 9 MOTM. 2 superb goals and worked tirelessly up front so composed and strong on the ball. ANDY C ..7 Played really well when coming on and put some good quality balls in. OAKES 8 Excellent use of the ball and took penalty like a pro. SCOTTY MCBLAIN 7 Reads the game well and times his challenges to perfection STEVE MELVIN 6 Thrown on in the last 15 when the game was over, not enough time to make any real impact.
Ref Watch -8- Handled the game well, missed a few niggly bits, applauded Cams goal Pictures
