Fisher 5-3 Great Doddington 28/01/06

Fisher where back in action against 3rd place doddington looking to move six points clear of them with 4 games in hand. The Game must have been in some doubt after the frost the night before but the pitch was near on immaculate condition considering the adverse weather conditions, with Corner flag away to park Rovers it was up to us to keep the up the pressure at the top of the division 3 summit and with a game in hand still on Corner flag its looking rosy again. There where yet more changes after the draw with grammarians, Adie stayed with a 5-3-2 and Milne kept his place in goal behind a back three of Scrivs, Bash, Mcblain. Oags was shifted out right to accommodate old bash in the centre, beside him was Scott Davanagh and Docs with cam on the left. Gibby and the returning jack started up front, Eddie, Dado and new signing Razor where on the bench. Fisher started from left to right which means we where shooting in gibbys favourite goal and he certainly proved that but more about that later. After conceding a corner around 15 minutes into the game we allowed my name sake Cameron to get a shot off from the edge of the box to make it 1-0 to the visitors. That only seemed to anger us and I cut a cross field ball out and headed to the by line and managed to steer in a cross only for Gibby to miss it by inches. Next to go close( although how he never scored was beyond me) was young docs, gibbys delightful ball gave him a near on open goal but he caught the shot to well and managed to hit the cross bar. Then the brake through, jack chipped the ball beyond two doddington defenders and docs scampered in on goal from the left, his first shot cannoned of the bottom of the keepers right hand post and luckily he followed it up to smash the ball home to make it 1-1. Almost instantly fisher found them selves 2-1 up with the goal of the season so far, Oags layed in a pass to the gibster on the edge of the box and his goal scoring instincts took over as he chested the ball down and spun round to send a swerving, curling and spectacular shot beyond the keeper and into the top right hand corner, 2-1 fisher. But our lead didnt last to long as we fell a sleep at another corner and allowed them to score again 2-2. Worse was to follow as once again we failed to clear the ball from yet another corner and allowed them to take a 3-2 lead in at half time.
We where confident of a win still despite the set back and it showed as we got ourselves back in the game almost instantly after the restart, a long ball from Scrivs had the doddington left back panicking with jack ready to pounce and his pressure paid off as the defenders header only helped the ball on towards goal, jack burst into life towards goal with the keeper approaching but he kept his cool and slotted home the equaliser. We where constantly pressuring the doddington rear guard and with a few tasty near miss corners it was only a matter of time, Gibby could have been the hero again when he rounded the keeper but failed to get his shot off at goal. We finally took the lead around 25 minutes into the half, Gibby swung in a nice corner from the right and Scrivs rose like a salmon at the back post to loop a header over every one and the ball dropped in at the opposite post to make it 4-3 and send the home crowd into raptures. Almost instantly Adie replaced jack with new signing razor up front.
Fisher went further ahead, Gibby again who was causing chaos with his corners bent in a delightful cross to see it bend in past everyone and into the top corner to make it 5-3. With the result intact Adie decided to sure things up replacing Oags with dado and Mcblain with Eddie. Surely this result with give us the boost we need to go on and win the league and with a cup semi on the cards it could be a cracking debut season for the fisher.
