Corby Famingo 2-0 Win, League, Away

The king fisher title run was given a huge boost as news from Great Doddington filtered through that orchard park had been beat by our next opponents which leaves us 3 points clear at the top of the Travis Perkins Makita Power Tools Division Three summit. Us on the other hand had a big task as we where missing key man sir bash in the middle and Oakes was AWOL. So it was an unchanged back line of Roon dog, Scrivs, Scotty Mc and Edwardo. I had the honour of stepping in at left wing back and the impressive Steve Sludden provided the ammunition from right wing back, Scott D, Dockland and a debut for lee turner in the middle of the park and the familiar pairing of jack the lad and gibby up front. In a lacklustre first half it was like a start to an old firm with tackles flying in every where and just like Celtic, flamingo where guilty of some bad and late challenges. We could have been ahead when I found a bit of space from a corner at the back post, I managed to cut it back but jacks effort from 6 yards went sailing over the bar( You weren’t kidding when you said you wanted to avoid man of the match jack). The back three were performing superbly again not giving flamingo a snith at goal. The midfield went hiding a wee bit and backed out of some bread and butter challenges. There wasn’t much action in front of goal from both sides so it was another rollicking from Adrian of Greene at the interval.

H/T 0-0

Admiral Adies half time pep talk seemed to have got fisher going again and they started the brightest with jack squandering a brilliant chance to take the lead 5 minutes in to the half. Then the move of the match when Scott D found Steve over lapping him down the right and played him in the sluddester cut back and delivered a pin point cross that found docs completely unmarked to volley home from 6 yards, it was a delightful goal and Steve (who was probably robbed of man of the match) deserved the applause he got from the crowd. Fisher then began to dominate the game spraying the ball about but amusingly enough it was a long ball that led to the second goal. Eddie had time to pass the ball to his right for scotty mc and he kept composed and lofted the ball over flamingo’s back four for el giberrinho to chase, he exploded past the centre half but his effort smacked the right hand post but only to land back at his feet and hammered the ball past the keeper to make it 2 goals to nil. Adie decided to shut up shop and sent young bash on for docks in the middle of the park. Bash wasted no time getting stuck in and forced a corner straight a way, gibby’s corner found big Scrivs totally unmarked but his effort was more suited to a rugby game as it sailed over the bar. Then the comical back two for flamingo denied fisher and gibby another goal, the ball was fizzed past the centre half and gibby was onto it like a flash but only to have the shirt practically ripped of his back, but it was no surprise to see why flamingo are bottom if that’s all there defence is capable off. Steve Melvin was sent on for the last 10 to try and waste some time( not that flamingo where gonna get a sniff on goal anyhow). The game finished 2-0 to the sky blues but it flattered flamingo really as we let them off the hook big time with some poor finishing. With orchard park getting beat by doddington it will be interesting to see how events unfold next week. So with the hard work done it was back to the fisher for some sausage and chips oh and don‘t forget the chicken dippas!.
